Pemakna are individuals who act as learning facilitators in the Pemaknaan process, a reflective approach developed by Indonesia untuk Kemanusiaan (IKa). Coming from diverse backgrounds—including activists, academics, journalists, and social practitioners—Pemakna are deeply engaged in social movements and have a strong understanding of social change.
In the Pemaknaan process, Pemakna engage with IKa’s partners to explore their experiences, challenges, and strategies in achieving social transformation. Their role is not to evaluate projects but to serve as reflection companions, helping organizations understand their journey in a more contextual and meaningful way.
Pemakna emphasize solidarity, trust, and ethics of care throughout the reflection process. Through in-depth dialogue, they assist partners in discovering the significance of their work, articulating challenges, and identifying potential strategies for the future.
As a result, the insights gathered by Pemakna provide valuable knowledge for both IKa and its partners—not only to understand the impact of social initiatives but also to strengthen collective capacity within the broader social movement.
